January 12, 2021
Dear St. Rose Philippine Duchesne Parishioners,
This morning I was notified that I was directly exposed to an individual who has tested positive for the COVID-19 virus. Following guidelines from the Archdiocese of St. Louis, I have spoken to the St. Louis County Health Department and will follow their direction to quarantine due to this exposure. I currently have no symptoms and am feeling fine.
However, during my absence from in-person ministry, our celebration of Mass will need to be limited to livestream only. I plan to celebrate Mass via livestream each weekday at 8am, but the church will be closed to in-person attendance. For the coming weekend, there will be one Mass at 8am on Sunday, January 17 via livestream. Another priest will be taking care of today’s funeral Mass, and the funeral Mass for Tracy Cufaude has been postponed to a later date. The parish office and adoration chapel will remain open for regular hours. We currently plan to resume the regular in-person Mass schedule on Thursday, January 21, 2021.
Several of our neighboring parishes remain open for in-person Masses:
- Sacred Heart (751 N. Jefferson):
M-F 7 & 8am, Sat. 8am & 5pm, Sun. 7, 9 & 11am & 6pm - St. Angela Merici (3860 N. Hwy 67):
M-F 8am, Sat. 5pm, Sun. 7:30am, 9:30am & 11:30am - St. Ferdinand (1765 Charbonier):
M-F 6 & 8am, Sat. 8am & 5pm, Sun. 7, 9 & 11am
I would like to remind you that if you begin feeling symptoms of COVID-19, please contact your doctor. If your doctor recommends that you receive a COVID-19 test, please contact your local health department.
The number of COVID-19 cases remains high across the greater St. Louis region. Because of this, I encourage you to have an increased focus on social distancing, masks, and hand washing. Most importantly, please consider how your decisions outside of our parish can affect our parish family and that we want to take care of each other. I encourage you to follow daily health screenings and protocols that are in place to prioritize the health and safety of all the members of our parish.
Thank you for your patience and support as we again make these temporary sacrifices together as a parish. I will share any additional important updates regarding this situation as new information becomes available.
As I keep you in my prayers, please keep me, our staff and our entire community in your prayers as we continue through this challenging time.
St. Rose Philippine Duchesne, Pray For Us!
Sincerely,
Rev. John Nickolai
Parochial Administrator
