When God speaks, things happen
We see in the book of Genesis how God spoke creation into existence. God’s words do not merely describe reality as ours do; they create reality.
That’s why when a priest, acting in the person of Christ, speaks Jesus’ words at Mass—“This is my Body...This is my Blood”—the substance of the bread and wine is changed into the Body and Blood of Jesus.
